How to Share Ahrefs Account with Other Users?

How to Share Ahrefs Account with Other Users?

I have been using Ahrefs for the past 10 years (and I prefer it over other SEO platforms).

There’s no marketing professional alive who hasn’t used tools like SEMrush and Ahrefs once in their career! It’s a great tool… Well, calling it a tool would be downgrading its value; it’s like an all-in-one SEO suite for marketing professionals, including freelancers & agencies.

You can use it for backlink auditing, keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking, and a lot of other things. That’s why marketing agencies like to buy an Ahrefs subscription.

But an Ahrefs account share becomes necessary for small-time marketing agencies.

Who Needs Ahrefs Group Share… and Why?

You may need to share your Ahrefs account with someone if you want to:

Manage Multiple Clients

Many clients who approach me already have Ahrefs accounts of their own. These accounts have their website information and marketing data. They share their credentials with me. But the thing is: I’m already working with many other clients with Ahrefs accounts of their own.

Sharing so many passwords and operating too many accounts from a single device can result in Ahrefs banning my clients’ accounts. How would I come out of this conundrum?

Collaborating with Colleagues

When I worked for a marketing agency a few years back, my coworkers caused our employer’s Ahrefs accounts to receive a ban because we were all using that one account to do keyword checks.

Saving on Add-Ons

Onboarding additional users on Ahrefs is very costly for small, local agencies. Imagine paying $40 to $100 just to let one more person use your account.

But you can still share Ahrefs account plans without incurring these extra costs. The answer lies in using residential proxies for this purpose. These proxies are perfect to let an entire team of SEO professionals collaborate by sharing the same account.

However, there are multiple issues with sharing Ahrefs accounts.

The Pricing Structure of Ahrefs

Ahrefs Plan Lite Standard Advanced Enterprise
Price $129 per month $249 per month $449 per month $14,990 per month
Price per Extra User $40 per new user $60 per new user $80 per new user $100 per new user
How Many New Users Allowed? Up to 2 more users Up to 5 more users Up to 10 more users Unlimited users

Now, here’s the most important thing about Ahrefs:

  • Each plan is for a single user only (additional users = you gotta pay up!)
  • Multiple users sharing the same login is forbidden (i.e., you can’t share your login creds with your coworkers)
  • Sharing your login credentials with others will make Ahrefs send you email confirmations again and again, since only one person can be using your account at a time.

But don’t worry! There’s a trick to bringing Ahrefs multiple users into the fold. You can do it by changing your location with Floppydata proxy or Gologin-like browsers.

4 Ways to Easily Share Ahrefs Account Access

1. Officially Invite New Users

Ahrefs recommends upgrading to a better plan that has room for multiple users. Like the Ahrefs advanced Plan. It lets you invite 10 more users. You become the admin, and the other users get login credentials of their own. Downside? This is very expensive for a small team!

2. Just Share Your Credentials

This method is kinda not recommended. You can just hand your credentials over to someone. Downside? Ahrefs will see that the other person has a different IP address. Your account will get a ban.

3. Trick Ahrefs with a VPN

Using a VPN works. You can make the Ahrefs algorithm think that the same user is moving around and using their account in different cities. I have used this method multiple times. You may even use a free proxy to make this method even more foolproof.

4. Control the Ahrefs Account Remotely

But the method I favor the most is to install a remote desktop so my team can access our solitary Ahrefs account. Using this method can make you face performance lags. But it works.

How Do I Share My Ahrefs Account Using Floppydata Proxies?

Floppydata traffic usage

To share your account, you will need proxies and an antidetect browser to easily manage them. We will use Gologin as an example of proxy usage, but you are free to choose any alternative.

Step 1: Getting Proxies From Floppydata

  • You can start by signing up for Floppydata
  • Choose a proxy plan (they have both residential & mobile proxies)
  • Create a proxy pool
  • Copy your proxies (username, password, etc.) from the dashboard of Floppydata. They will be pasted in the antidetect dashboard.

Step 2: Pasting Proxies in an Anti-Detect Browser

  • Download an anti-detect browser like Gologin

Gologin create new profile

  • Make a new browser profile for a new user (10 users = 10 profiles)
  • Paste Floppydata proxies in bulk by using the Paste Proxies option in Location column on main screen (no need to enter them one at a time)

Gologin choose proxy

  • After pasting, pick a different proxy for each profile like shown in the picture. You’re good to go!

Step 3: Logging into Ahrefs and Sharing Browser Profiles

  • All that’s left now is to run the browser profile and log into Ahrefs in the new browser window

Gologin ahrefs pofile

  • Give your colleague access to the profile using Gologin’s Share Profile option: hover over three dots near Run button and click Share.
  • Enter your partner’s email and select access level. Your colleagues will get email invites to run your profile with proxy, but from their device.

Gologin share profile

  • When you or your colleague runs the profile on remote, it will always stay logged in. For Ahrefs, it will be still same device – and you can share it with any number of people.

This method can also be used for any other website, web-based SaaS, social media accounts and so on. Enjoy!

FAQ

How do I add someone to my Ahrefs account?

If you have a Lite plan or higher, go to the Members tab or workspace switcher → “Invite members.” Assign a role (Admin, Member, etc.), send invite, and they accept via email.

What are the risks of sharing Ahrefs login credentials instead of using shared workspace?

Risks include forced logouts, account locks due to unusual IPs or devices, losing track of activity, and possibly violating TOS which could lead to suspension.
